COMPETITIVESKATE

The Competitive program is a testing program for skaters in singles, pairs and dance wishing to compete in qualifying events with Skate Canada. Skaters enrolled in Competitive Skate learn a variety of skills as they progress up the competitive ladder. These include goal setting, focus, ability to deal with success/failure, time management and principles of fair play and sportsmanship. In addition to the life skill benefits, skaters in this program receive:

-Access to Provincial and National funding programs (as applicable)

-The opportunity to be selected to Skate Canada's National Team

-The opportunity to compete at Skate Canada Sectionals, Skate Canada Challenge and/or the Canadian Figure Skating Championships

-The opportunity and potential to represent Canada internationally

-Access to sport science services

 

2024-25 Season 

***New This Year*** -  summer ice starts August 12th and is included in your Competitive season skating fees. See summer schedule for skating times.

Monday 4:00PM - 5:45PM & 6:45PM - 8:00PM

Tuesday 4:00PM - 7:00PM

Thursday 4:00PM - 6:15PM

Friday 7:15AM - 8:30AM 

Saturday 9:00AM - 11:30AM

Skate Yorkton requires members to fundraise to keep fees as low as possible. Any fundraising done is used to offset the cost of ice rental, which is our largest single expense. 

If you choose not to fundraiser the buy-out fee per Competitive Skater is: $225.00. Families that opt to buy-out are still asked to sell a lottery book.

Each skater is asked to fundraise as follows:

Competitive: $425 in total product sales + sell 1 Skate Yorkton lottery book. Fundraising opportunities may include but not limited to:

  • Moms Pantry
  • Old Dutch Chips,
  • Meat Order,
  • Pizza (TBD).

Skaters may choose to sell a 2nd and/or 3rd Lottery Book as additional fundraisers.

ALL REGISTERED SKATERS ARE ASKED TO SELL 1 Skate Yorkton Lottery Book. $100 cash or cheque to be handed in by February 15, 2025 when you hand in your sold ticket book. 

Please bring your $225.00 fundraising deposit cheque to the Skate Yorkton Office. Cheque is to be post-dated to 2025/03/01 and will not be cashed if fundraising commitment is met.

**Always remember to write your skaters names on your cheques or in the comments of your E-transfer**
